Matfen Hall with it's cosy interior, grand staircase, huge christmas tree and open fires was the perfect location for Lisa and Paul's winter wedding. In the midst of the festive season, and only four days before Christmas day they together created a purely magical experience for everyone attending. A rich red theme with scatters of silver and glitter, fairy lights and sparkle, indoor pyrotechnics, a six piece brass band, indoor up lighters, fireworks and a magical first dance complete with a snowfall finale.
We of course were all hoping to complete the scene with a fresh dusting of snow on the ground but sadly it wasn't to be. The day was cold with a sharp winter chill and the light was crisp and fresh.
We both headed over to Matfen Hall to catch up with Lisa and Paul during their preparations before heading over to the Holy Trinity Church located just across the road for their wedding ceremony. Lisa looked every bit a princess in her A line wedding gown, layered skirt and sheer lace trimmed bolero as she walked down the aisle escorted by her Father, emotion and pride etched across his face.
As the light dimmed into twilight our newlyweds celebrated their nuptials with family and friends in the cosy Great Hall before heading our into the crisp air to catch the last of the light for a few photographs. Their wedding breakfast was accompanied by three fantastic speeches by the bride's father, groom and his best man. Heading afterwards back into the Great Hall to dance the night away.
Here are a few favourites from their day...
